Another company that attempted to build over the western hills from downtown Portland towards Hillsboro and even as far as Forest Grove, following in the footsteps of the failed Barnes Heights & Cornell Mountain line of a decade earlier. Despite breathless newspaper reports of “unlimited capital” behind the project, the company failed to raise enough money to commence building the line, and also faced much opposition from property owners in northwest Portland, all of whom wanted any new railway line built on some one else’s street.
