Not to be confused with the later Portland Consolidated Railway Company (1904–1905).
First incorporated as the Columbia Consolidated Railway Company in April 1892, the name was changed to the Portland Consolidated Railway Company a month later at the behest of Eastern interests, who thought “Portland” had better name recognition.
