Boring is at the summit of the big grade out of Gresham along the Springwater division, and also the site of Palmer’s saw mill. Before the main power house at the Faraday Dam was completed, electrical power for the outer reached of the line was supplied by a power house at Boring, which used scraps from the mill for fuel. The machinery in the plant was recycled from the old East Side Railway power house located to the east of the Inman, Poulsen & Co. sawmill in East Portland.
