A company formed by local Portland interests – George P. Lent being one of them – in September 1892 to take over the operation of the cable lines in the city after the Portland Cable Railway Company failed. They seem to have been unsuccessful as the lines were back in the hands of the receiver, F. I. Fuller, by November 26, 1892. The original bondholders of the Portland Cable Railway Company, mainly based out of California, were determined to take back their investment and bought the cable road and all its real property in September 1894, forming the second Portland Traction Company.
