The main reason why the Cazadero line was even built in the first place – to bring construction materials to this massive dam and power station on the Clackamas River near Estacada. Construction began in 1904, and the power plant was put into operation in early 1907.

The plant became known as Power Station “G” in the PRL&P years. Ownership eventually passed to the Portland General Electric Company, who operate the replacement Faraday dam today – the original dam being destroyed by floods in 1965.
