One of two power stations constructed in the early 1890s close to the Inman & Poulsen Company’s sawmill to take advantage of the cheap and plentiful fuel (mainly sawdust from the mill) and water there. This one was located just north of the mill and was founded by the City & Suburban Railway Company, beginning operations in April 1892.

By mid-1892, machinery had been taken from two of the original electric power houses – Albina and Powell & 26th – and placed here to increase generation capacity for the burgeoning streetcar lines.

By 1906, the power house had been incorporated into PRL&P’s naming system as Power Station “F”. The aging plant was replaced by the adjacent Power Station “L” – better known today as the home of OMSI – in 1910, and was finally demolished in 1911 once the latter was completely online.
