A large brick substation on N Knott Street, built to provide power for streetcars and commercial light and power needs in north and northeast Portland in December 1906. In PRL&P’s nomenclature, it was officially known as Substation “D”.
The building is still extant as part of a PGE substation today, though rumor has it that it will be demolished soon.
