An amusement park built to compete with Jantzen Beach on the site of the old Columbia Beach park on Tomahawk Island (which had been renamed from “Sand Island” in 1927). The bathhouse opened for business on June 14, 1930 with the rest of the park following suit on June 28. Built on a shoestring budget and plagued by problems and disasters, the park only lasted three seasons before closing and being sold for scrap in July 1933.
The park’s entrance bridge was right on the Vancouver streetcar line, with its own station called “Lotus Isle–Faloma.” However, this station was located on the mainland at the western end of modern-day N Bridgeton Road, rather than at the mis-named Lotus Isle Park, which is actually located on the modern infill between Hayden and Tomahawk islands. However, from the park, you can still see the remains of the long trestle that once carried the streetcar line from the Oregon shore to Hayden Island.
