It is unclear at the moment whether this shuttle line over the Willamette Bridge existed right from the start of the Willamette Bridge Railway Company’s East Side service in March 1888, or if it was introduced when that company’s East Fifth-street line was extended north from N street [now SE Morrison] to Holladay avenue in July 1888.
Service on this line was always provided by horsecar, including one extra-large car that could seat 30 passengers.
The shuttle was discontinued in September 1890 when the electric Richmond and Woodstock lines commenced service over the bridge.
