Despite the company name, this company did not build what became known as the Mount Tabor line, but instead the “South Mount Tabor” steam motor line, which became better known as the Hawthorne line after the avenue it ran along on the East Side.

In December 1890, the company commenced laying track along Sixth, W [now SE Mill] and Eleventh south of Hawthorne towards Sellwood but suspended work in February 1891 when they ran out of rails. This stub was used by the succeeding East Side Railway Company to build the Oregon City interurban line.
