| Important Dates: | September 25, 1890 – Start of service, with only three cars a day past SE 26th and Brooklyn due to problems with the track. March 1, 1891 – 30-minute service inaugurated over the entire line. March 25, 1902 – Line temporarily operates as a shuttle east of SE 26th and Brooklyn as a new, straighter route along SE Clinton is built. September 10, 1903 – Service along the entire route is restored. December 21, 1910 – Line converted to standard gauge operation running over the new Hawthorne Bridge. August 14, 1921 – The SE 11th and 12th one-way couplet reverses direction, with cars now running south (outbound) on 11th and north (inbound) on 12th.
