A rare surviving “trolley park” — an amusement park established by a streetcar company for the express purpose of increasing ridership on their car lines on Sundays and holidays. The Oaks first opened on Memorial Day — Tuesday, May 30, 1905 — just before the Lewis & Clark Exposition began at Guild Lake in northwest Portland.
