A short-lived renaming of the Portland Electric Power Company brought on by a change of corporate ownership in February 1930, with the Chicago-based Central Public Service Corporation taking charge of the company. The unwieldy name was unpopular and the company reverted back to the catchier “PEPCO” as soon as possible after a stock trade in 1933 returned ownership of the company to local stockholders.
The Portland Traction Company was formed as a subsidiary to operate the city transportation lines under the auspices of this company.
