A natural corollary of the extension of streetcar lines throughout the city was the development of parks and amusement parks along the routes. Some of these, like The Oaks, were owned and operated by the streetcar companies, while others, like Council Crest, were operated by private concerns. The lines also reached some of Portland’s cemeteries and funeral cars were a regular sight around Portland for many years.
